I’m starting as an AI PM next month at a FinTech company where AI is used mostly on one core feature of the product. I regard myself as fairly technical with a CS degree from one of the top CS schools, and have taken some ML/DL/NN/RL classes(undergrad level). However, the AI PM role is new and I don’t know what to expect. I will be working with a bunch of ML engineers and their manager, but how do I define my responsibility/contribution? How technical should I aim to be? And what should I learn to be a qualified AI PM? Thanks for your advice!

Should be enough.
Your responsibility is about choosing and then delivering the most effective improvements. Same as before, but the means of achieving that are a bit different.
There is variability based on what exactly you are going to do. AI in FinTech may mean, for example, focus on fraud prevention, while at a social network that may be improving engagement in a news feed.
At times you’ll be less of a driver and more of a servant (after all, devs will know their algos and possible features for models much better), but you’ll still need to productize it, assess impact, etc.
