Book recommendations

I’m a product manager who’s coming up on my first year. Looking for any book recommendations about product management or business strategy in general.

Thanks

“The build trap” by Melissa P.

Just read this, and it is a fantastic overview of product role, practice, and structure. Also an easy weekend read!

People here usually recommend Inspired and First 90 Days.

One of the best tactical books on Product management is probably Continuous Discovery Habits. This approach can couple well with something related to roadmaps: Roadmaps Relaunched

For strategy, check out Good Strategy Bad Strategy

Good luck!

Ram Charan wrote a lot of books. Which ones did you find most useful?

@NatashaMartin, Here’s the list of recommended books by Ram Charan:

  1. What the CEO wants you to know
  2. The Leadership Pipeline
  3. Execution: the discipline of getting things done
  4. The Amazon Management System
  5. Profitable Growth Is Everyone’s Business: 10 Tools You Can Use Monday Morning
  6. Talent, Strategy, Risk: How Investors and Boards Are Redefining TSR
  7. Rethinking Competitive Advantage

There isn’t a right order to read, but I think the best books are What the CEO wants you to know, The Leadership Pipeline and Execution.

Some books that I would recommend are:

  1. Competing Against Luck by Clayton Christensen
  2. A non conventional recommendation that really opened my eyes is “Working Backwards” - Bill Carr and Colin Bryas
  3. Simon Sinek’s books are good too. Start with Why. The Infinite Game.

PM specifics:
-Hooked
-Inspired
-Working backwards

And I totally second the idea to go with Sinek’s leadership material.
