Totally agree, but I think it’s been that way for a few years now. A lot of egotistical, self-important dbags are the noisiest ones in our field, particularly on social media.
I think a lot of it comes out of the people who buy into the concept of needing to “sell their personal brand.”
I don’t want to work with, or hang out with, people who are seemingly defined by their jobs, and there’s a lot of crossover in that with this group you’re calling out.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve always said we are not CEOs of our product; we aren’t the innovators that social media pretends we are. We’re not Steve Jobs.
I don’t sub to that bullshit narrative. I don’t sub to these fancy frameworks. I don’t like to hear my voice.
I sub to collaborating, working w engineers to incrementally provide value, and understand I will never make everyone happy, nor do I care. I enjoy my job, but let’s be clear. We’re not saving lives. Our products aren’t that important. Just build relationships, listen to your peers, create a strategy that aligns w your company goals and specifically with the input of your intelligent engineers and go out and execute and know that shit will never go to plan 100% and that’s okay.
