Talk to the devs that use your products. Ask them:
- What are your top 3 problems right now?
- What are your top 3 problems when you use (product)?
- What are the implications of (one of) those problems?
- What have you done to try and solve for that? When was the last time you tried something new?
- Does that work well for you?
Don’t add extra words, ask those questions. Do it 10 times and see if patterns emerge. Better yet, have a hypothesis that you think is a big issue for them, especially around your product.
Build yourself a mental picture of what your target user is dealing with, what they are going through, what their day looks like, where your product fits, and what things are ACTIVELY bothering them. Your confidence will skyrocket.
